In July alone, ActBlue witnessed a remarkable surge in contributions:
- 4.2 million small-dollar donors gave 10 million contributions to over 15,000 different campaigns and organizations.
- Donors raised an astonishing $493,000,000.
- 45% of the total dollars raised came from first-time donors.
Unprecedented Momentum for Vice President Kamala Harris
Every election cycle has its defining moments, and this July, we experienced one of the most significant in recent memory. On July 21, President Biden announced that he would not seek re-election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. The response from grassroots donors was historic.
- Within the first five hours of VP Harris’ presidential campaign, small-dollar donors contributed $27.5 million.
- In the first 48 hours, the momentum continued with over $154 million in contributions.
- The days of and following the Harris campaign announcement became the second and third largest fundraising days in ActBlue’s history for dollars raised sitewide.
Bringing in New Donors
The wave of enthusiasm didn’t stop there. The first week of Harris’ campaign drove enthusiasm for Democrats across the country. Grassroots donors contributed over $200 million across ActBlue, with over 300,000 of those contributions coming from first-time donors.
